2017 Fly-In Report

The weather was a problem this year but depsite that those who managed to get in on Friday had a great time. 22 planes arrived on Friday 23rd and none either on Saturday or Sunday due to persistant low cloud and occasional fog. The social programme started with a welcome drinks reception and a dinner with live music at Bumps on Friday night 23 June and numerous cultural and social  activities across three days.   But the highlight of the weekend was be the Gala and Prize-Giving Dinner with live music at the Braye Beach Hotel. The Trophy winners had to work hard to win them and they are listed over on the right. The Spirit of the Fly-In was won by young Sophie Cuthbertson who sat behind her dad during the flight in a QuikR and even after a sporty approach showed off her cartwheels setting a high standard for next years winners.

Despite the poor weather at the airfield sun was often seen on the lower parts of the Island and the activities such as the guided tours were popular particularly the walk through the old town, the Roman Fort (with tea and cakes) and Fort Tourgis all with excellent guides.

We all hope to see everyone and more next year and Im sure the flying weather will be better.
